Synergies between Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT's) and Rural Development programs

Abstract

CCTs has become one of the strategies for alleviating poverty of 27-million households in LAC; a significant proportion of them lives in rural areas, meaning they can be joint beneficiaries of social protection programs and rural development projects. Complementarities between these two interventions may enhance the poverty-reduction goal and other synergistic effects may appear. This first panel analyses different cases in the region (Colombia, El Salvador, Peru) where this joint intervention is present, and quantitative and qualitative information has been collected to test the synergies. Policy implications for scaling up and graduation are discussed as part of the evaluation.
