The Center for Chinese-Mexican Studies (CECHIMEX) at the School of Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Academic Network of Latin America and the Caribbean on China (RED ALC-CHINA), supported by the Union of Latin American and Caribbean Universities (UDUAL) and CECHIMEX, were created nine and two years ago, respectively. Based on the respective “dialogue” that these institutions propose—together with the academic, public, private and other sectors—this paper will address the main academic results of these efforts. The paper will be divided into three parts. The first part highlights the institutional setting of both institutions and their respective weaknesses and strengths, as well as the extension and depth of their relationship with other institutions in respective sectors. The second will discuss general results in terms of the content guidelines that these institutions have developed: economy, policy, raw materials and environment, as well as history, culture and learning Chinese. The third part will briefly address a group of proposals based on the first two sections of the paper.
