During its initial phase, the project “Poetry and Urban Imaginaries” (2014) consisted of two stages: workshops with (mostly) political prisoners jailed during the 1980s and 90s, and the digital projection of the poems produced during this workshop on specific sites in the city of Lima. The aim of the workshop was for the participants to identify the urban imaginaries that inhabit their subjectivity and express it through poems that would later intervene public spaces. This paper, authored by Veronica Uribe and Rodrigo Vera has two aims: to determine the relation between space and memory played out during the project and to analyze from a space theory approach how it subverted specific spaces in order to produce new ones where frequently excluded memories and expectations came to presence in unsettling ways.
