Formed in 2005, the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade has provided disaster relief on dozens of occasions, such as the tsunami in Indonesia, earthquake in Pakistan, and flooding in Mexico. Most recently it has been involved in the campaign against Ebola in West Africa, and sent the first (and largest) medical contingent there. This paper draws upon research with Brigade members in Cuba and in the field, and analyzes the role, philosophy and experiences of the Brigade.
