The paper compares the evolution of host countries as well as emerging economies differential attitudes towards foreign investors in Latin America and Asia. The author compares the response and the institutional performance of a reduced group of countries in order to better understand the reasons for both pro-active institutional attitude of some countries and the scenarios when some other countries remain more passive, been basically rulers-takers in this globalized game. The knowledge of Latin American experiences in Asia as well as of Asian experiences in Latin America are of particular importance today, when Latin American countries began to experience an ever increasing level of flows arriving now not only from the developed North, but also from the emerging South, specifically, from the Southeast Asia.
