Who Are the Latin Americanists? Comparative Insights from Recent Studies

Abstract

This workshop will discuss the empirical findings of recent studies of the career pathways of Latin Americanist scholars. These findings encompass observations about scholarly publishing, employment, and perspectives on the professional trajectories of Latin Americanist scholars based in Latin America and outside the region. Workshop participants will also discuss the substantive implications for training scholars in various disciplines to work on the region and how journals and the Association may respond to current trends in career pathways.
