International Security: Old or New Affairs? II

Abstract

These two panels, counting established women experts of security, would explore what has changed in the security realm, looking new actors and subjects as well as the traditional security questions. It will address new security configurations in Latin America and the impact of recent institutions as UNASUR, ALBA, CELAC, to influence the content of the new regional and global security agenda. The debate will include the challenges posed by rising powers, old sovereignty disputes and the global agenda. It also focus in the overlap between defense and security. Finally, it will discuss the reconfiguration of the area studies after the enlargement of the concept of security.
