Session Submission Type: Panel
As knowledge of climate change (CC) and global environmental change (GEC) has deepened, Mexico has been classified as one of the main countries exposed to the impacts of CC and GEC. It is a region historically characterized by diverse types of migration (internal, international and return migration; permanent, semi-permanent, pendular and itinerant). Thus, after making a theoretical national and international revision of migration, a pioneer multidisciplinary research project was conducted triangulating quantitative and qualitative methodologies in the central area of Mexico looking at environmentally induced migration (EIM). It takes three overarching axes: systemic theory, social representations theory and gender analysis. This panel seeks to present its main research results.
Environmental-induced migration in Mexico: a conceptual and empirical approach / Migración inducida ambientalmente en México: enfoque conceptual y empírico - Ursula Oswald Spring
Forced return migration, double vulnerability, risk and its environmental repercussion: a Mexican case study / Migración forzada de retorno, doble vulnerabilidad, riesgo y su repercusión ambiental: estudio de caso en México - Ariana Estrada Villanueva, CIDHEM-Universidad Intercultural del Estado de México
