Session Submission Type: Panel
The panel studies the impact of power dynamics on regional security in Latin America. Global and regional power shifts have led to a reconfiguration of regional institutions and, more specifically, regional security cooperation. This, in turn, affects the definition, perception and management of regional security challenges. Some contributions to this panel focus on the repercussions of global and regional power shifts for the structure of regional institutions; others emphasize how power shifts shape the prevalent responses to security challenges; yet others concentrate on the use of regional institutions as an integral part of the management of security challenges.
