Canon of readings of Contemporary Political Theory in Colombia

Abstract

This paper identifies the existence of a canon of authors, schools and subjects in the teaching of contemporary political theory in Colombia, by the classification of the programmatic content of the courses that address contemporary political theories that are taught in the 33 Political Science undergraduate programs of the country. This allows to make a diagnosis of the main approaches in the teaching of contemporary political theory, taking as analysis criteria the way that the canon already stated, resolve four epistemological tensions: monism vs. pluralism, local vs. global, modernity vs. post-modernity and disciplinary vs. interdisciplinary.
