Cultural Mercosur: path and prospects from 2003 to 2015

Mon, May 30, 12:45 to 2:15pm, TBA

Abstract

In a South American context transformed by elected leftist governments and the consequent new design of these countries agendas, Mercosur acquires new impetus and claims beyond the strictly economic dimension hitherto practiced. Culture takes new status within the block and the Cultural Mercosur provokes a special interest in the context of integration. The cultural factor is perceived as an integrating factor, in terms of a developmental and social inclusion. In this article, we will examine the progress and challenges of the Cultural Mercosur, from a multidisciplinary perspective that considers the relationship between the main actions of the Cultural Mercosur , its impact on the bloc's cultural economy and its contribution to the expansion of the South Cone integration.
