Session Submission Type: Roundtable
We propose this roundtable as a multi-disciplinary space to reflect on some of the current scholarship and new directions in the study of race and ethnicity in the colonial era. Panelists will present brief papers (10-15 minutes) to leave substantial time for discussion with the audience. Papers will address questions like: How do we approach archives that are shaped by colonial categories? What kinds of interdisciplinary methods can help us read beyond and around archival silences? What kinds of training are required to study race and ethnicity in the colonial era?
