Session Submission Type: Panel
This panel is concerned with climate-induced movements of people and the contributions of religion as an often overlooked but key factor in strategies of community adaptation and resilience, but also as part of public responses to the increase of climate refugees in Latin America and South Asia. In regional comparative terms, panelists consider changes in religious practice as a result of climate change, and religious responses to climate-related challenges contributing to social inequality, including glacial melt, declining agricultural productivity, displacement and rural to urban migration, reduced hydropower generation, and new stresses upon urban water systems.
