This panel aims to discuss a broad spectrum of conflict resolution issues from a Latin American perspective. It will focus on how to generate analytical frameworks contributing to a better understanding of conflict and violence in the region and how to foster practical capacities and the strengthening of institutional and legal/normative mechanisms for conflict resolution. The specific objectives are the following:
a) to evaluate theoretical and conceptual perspectives on conflict resolution;b) to discuss empirical work focused on inter-state, domestic and transnational conflicts; c) to evaluate policy options for preventing and responding to regional, national and local crises.
