The Inter-American Commission of Human Rights Needs Our Support

Abstract

An essential component of multidimensional security is the respect for human rights. The Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR) has been a tireless advocate for the peoples of the Americas, with very meager resources compared to the scope of its mandate. Last year it entered into a financial crisis, but was rescued at the last minute y some country contributions. This presentation will address the role and functions of the IACHR and argue for its strengthening.
