Racism is considered a crime in Brazil and the most recent anti-racism law is about to complete 30 years in 2019. After all this time, it’s possible to point out that there’s still many problems involving the effectiveness of the law inside the Judiciary System when it comes with discrimination against blacks.
This paper presents the findings of an ongoing research about black Brazilian women inside the São Paulo State Court of Justice. My focus is to discuss those results and show if or how the Brazilian anti-racist laws protects black women especially with the growing need to explore and discuss the ideas of intersectionality and also the necessity to address multiple discriminations in Brazil.
