Potential Cuba-US Trade Relations, and Considerations of their Impact on Cuba's Socialist Project

Abstract

This presentation will consist of two parts. The first will construct a
very rudimentary estimate of both the size and nature of potential trade relations between Cuba and the US, and the role these could play in Cuba's economy. The second will present a number of considerations about a number of different ways such trade relations might impact Cuba's long-standing, and still being developed, project to build a socialist economy and society. This work is intended to be a preliminary contribution to what is intended to be a larger and continuing effort to address this issue.
