Session Submission Type: Panel
This panel explores the different ways that politics and resistance is embodied by Black women from a hemispheric perspective of the Americas. We will put forth an understanding of politics that situates the embodied and everyday practices of resistance against neo-colonialist national narratives, domestic and State forms of violence, as sources of political theory and intellectual history. We understand politics beyond its traditional definition, challenging the division between the intellectual and the embodied. Through the cases of Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia and the U.S. we will discuss different voices and histories of black women’s resistance.
