Abstract

The Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP) promotes teaching and research on Latin America at all educational levels in the US and abroad. Focus include the instruction of the region’s less-commonly-taught languages, K-12 outreach, excellence in teaching, and dissemination of commissioned papers. CLASP sponsors three prestigious awards (Américas Book Award, Junior Faculty Teaching Award, and K-12 Teaching Award), distributes summer LCTL programs list, and sponsors sessions at relevant conferences. CLASP members gather at LASA to learn of current developments from the Executive Committee, hear committee reports, and vote on proposals that will set the organization’s course going forward.
