Session Submission Summary

Performing insurrections. Four cuir anthropophagic perspectives

Fri, May 24, 2:15 to 3:45pm, TBA

Session Submission Type: Panel

Abstract

Behind shining screens, as Preciado says, we all have experienced new ways of neocolonial, technological, and subjective domination. Knowing that the obscure pixel era can also be the last one, it is urgent to set up alternative modes of resistance. This working group emerged from a theoretical and vital encounter with the Brazilian philosopher Suely Rolnik, who inspired us to focus on combating the pimping of life, reclaiming transformative forces for inhabiting and thinking each other. From the 60s artworks and cultural scenario to nowadays, this panel rethinks relationships, objects, bodies, sameness, and otherness from four different cuir anthropophagic perspectives. Approaching insurrection from migrant, exiled, and cuir Southern subjectivities, our framework starts from the margins of the body and proposes a cannibal attitude of devouring, digesting, and expelling new ways of living, thinking, and producing worlds.
