Coverage exclusion and inequality in Peru

Abstract

The paper assesses pension program coverage by activity, gender, and geographic area in Peru. Analyzes the determinants and the causes of pension coverage inequality and social protection exclusion. Coverage projections in 2018-2035–based on macroeconomic trends of economic growth and productivity advancements–show the limits of pension coverage in the next decades. Concludes with an analysis of the impact of changes of recent legislation on income security in old age.
