The analysis of disciplines, fields and scientific domains is a multi-addressed area by several specialties of knowledge. There is a dispersion of scientific literature published around the different aspects that intervene in the analysis of disciplines and scientific fields in the theoretical and methodological order. The objectives of the study were: 1) to identify the aspects and conceptions constructed in the analysis of disciplines, fields and domains of knowledge, 2) to examine the main methods and procedures around the analysis of disciplines, fields and domains of knowledge from its scientific-intellectual production and 3) establish applications for the visualization of research results from the use of computational techniques and tools that allow the analysis of social relations on Latin American scientific activity and production. The conceptions, procedures, techniques and methods constructed around the analysis of disciplines, fields and scientific domains are identified. The analysis of scientific communities based on their production allows the identification of social relations around issues, institutions, countries, languages, sources of financing, among others. There are multiplicity of techniques and methods that analyze scientific texts as a reflection of the fields of knowledge such as bibliometric method, discourse analysis, content analysis, application of argumentation theory and domain analysis. The bibliometric method allows to quantify aspects that take place in scientific production from the analysis of large databases with extensive bibliographic repertoires, an aspect that facilitates the identification of the characteristics of the scientific production located in the SciELO database.
