Writing centers serve as sites of writing instruction on college campuses, and tutors often encounter students who may write in nonstandardized ways. I explored the language ideologies of writing center tutors and how ideologies manifest in their tutoring. From an embedded case study, emergent findings indicate tutors value voice in writing, but limit this definition to stylistic choices. Further, there is tension between this value and their goal of setting students up for academic success.
