This convergent mixed-methods study sought to identify and describe preservice teachers’ literacy knowledge in association to their self-efficacy. Preservice teachers from three universities analyzed 4th grade NAEP mathematics word problems for the literacy and vocabulary skills students need. Data sources included NAEP analysis and the Preservice Teacher Reading Efficacy Scale. Analysis included deductive and inductive coding and correlation tests. Results will share how preservice teachers’ self-efficacy is associated with their analysis of these word problems.
