Thu, December 4, 3:00 to 4:30pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Celebrity Ballroom 7

Session Submission Type: Alternative Format Session

Abstract

In this interactive alternate format session, rural literacy researchers will provide participants with the opportunity to consider literacy as spatialized practice and place as relevant to literacy research. After a brief overview of rural spatialized inequity and rural literacy education, presenters will share information organized by two themes (a) rural salience (how rural matters for literacy research) and (b) Land as relation (how scholarship that connects to the Land can promote equity).
