Abstract
Public education is under attack in the United States. As President Donald Trump undertakes the dismantling of the Department of Education, multiple states are diverting public funds to private schools while banning books and mandated particular curriculums. This study group proposes to find a healing space utilizing the methodology of portraiture through the lens of arts-based research. This approach can lead to disruptive research, providing counter-stories to the dominant narrative of our nation’s failing schools.
