The Roots of Trust in UN Peacekeeping Operations: Evidence from DRCongo

Brief Overview

We use an original, random sample survey of adults in three provinces in Eastern DRC to demonstrate that trust is built through transactional relationships. We find no support for the peacekeeping mission protecting civilians as driving trust.
