Incumbency Advantages, Policy Platform, and Candidate Quality

Brief Overview

I study a spatial model of electoral competition between two candidates with an incumbency effect. This model shows that a high-quality incumbent chooses a moderate policy platform even in a signaling game if the incumbency effect is considered.
