Oiling the Guns: How FDI in Oil and Gas Extraction Affects Conflict Dynamics

Brief Overview

We argue that inward FDI in oil and gas prolongs conflict nationally and displaces violence locally. Empirically we exploit variation in timing of an FDI to overcome endogeneity in conflict dynamics. We illuminate the mechanisms examining Mozambique.
