The purpose of this explanatory sequential mixed methods study is to explore how the influential factors for acceptance and demographics of 7th and 8th graders relate to their acceptance of mobile technology initiatives in its second year of implementation at a suburban middle school in northern Illinois. In this study, students will be surveyed with a tool developed using the UTAUT (Venkatesh et al., 2003) with added modifications to include questions regarding SES. A focus group will then be formed using a sampling of convenience, and members of this group will be interviewed to attempt to create a clearer understanding of the quantitative data achieved from the surveys.
