Validation of Survey Items Related to Community College Resource Use

Abstract

Navigating students to support resource on campus is one of the components of a First-year Experience program at a community college. Importantly, actively using the resources benefit students on persisting in college to continue their education as well as on their future career. Researchers designed 16 items on a First-year Experience survey to understand student perspectives and the behaviors on-campus resource use. As the needs of validation of these 16 items, the purpose of this study is to assess the quality of the items related to college resource use through Rasch measurement analysis. As a result, the 16 items measure the college resource use with reliability and validity.
