Exploring barriers and opportunities in an organization’s remote internship: A design-based research study

Fri, October 21, 8:00 to 9:10am, Graduate Hotel - Cincinnati, Joseph Strauss

Abstract

This study encompasses the analysis and exploration phase of a design-based research study focusing on a sports event organization that hires 15-20 interns per year for both remote and event-based work. Using cognitive apprenticeship as a theoretical lens, this initial stage of a larger project will include interviews with the organization’s staff and interns, and observations of current procedures to fully understand issues relating to the training and professional development of the interns. Combined with a thorough analysis of the relevant literature, this study will set the stage for the development of a design-based intervention.
