Imagining, Designing, & Publishing Podcasts in Educational Contexts: Podcasting in the Classroom Podcasting & Podcasting about Education

Wed, October 16, 2:40 to 3:50pm, The Graduate Hotel and Conference Center, Leonard Baehr

Abstract

This session will share recent learnings and best practices from participants in the Cleveland Teaching Collaborative’s inaugural podcast “Chalk Talk with CLE Teaching” (www.podcast.cleteaching.org). The Cleveland Teaching Collaborative is a network of educators from Pre-K to Higher Education committed to improving teaching and learning. This hub, launched during the pandemic, has evolved to become a thriving community of practice that includes dozens of educator-authored case studies published on our academic blog and over 2,000 entries in our crowd-sourced Resource Referatory. In May 2024, the CTC launched their first podcast series. Across the seven episodes, the inaugural series features 19 educators from elementary through university settings who offer their insights on pressing topics in education right now. In addition to the episodes published by CTC, this session shares two podcasts developed and implemented as part of instructional units in an elementary school and high school. The CTC's goals are to curate, share, reflect on, and analyze educators’ experiences to improve teaching, learning, and student success. Attendees will gain practical insight on how to develop, design and launch a podcast for their educational context. Come to this session and learn how to bring podcasting to your instructional context!
