Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES have been associated with a multitude of negative outcomes, including chronic health problems and increased risk of future incarceration. This analysis aims to evaluate if there is a relationship between the number of ACES experienced and individuals’ personal earnings into adulthood. Participants were from a nationally representative sample of secondary school students, college students, and young adults from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (1994-2018). Data was analyzed using a bivariate correlation. A significant relationship was found between number of ACEs experienced and personal earnings in adulthood, r=-.06, p<.001. ACEs may be predictive of lower earnings in adulthood. Additional research is needed to further evaluate the nature of this relationship.
