Abstract

This activity encourages students to examine their own cultural ideologies, values, traditions, beliefs, etc. while also acknowledging that their culture is not the only culture within this world, and even within their own town! Through the activity, the students experience culture shock and ethnocentrism, and are able to experience what it is like to encounter a culture very different from one’s own without relying on verbal communication to alleviate their sense of confusion and frustration.
