Abstract

In 1988 at the Manoa Valley Interpretation Festival, Dwight Conquergood was asked to comment on his pioneering research and the nature and future of Oral Interpretation/Performance Studies. His candid, personal, and eloquent responses illustrate that the performance festival is a site where the health of a discipline may be examined, critiqued, and celebrated. Excerpts from the video interview will be shown, with commentary and discussion led by other 1988 festival participants.
