Session Submission Type: Short Course
One of the most important needs of a communication division is the ability to document the work of our students and to demonstrate, to accrediting agencies and internal reviewers, that the stated goals and objectives for departmental courses are being met. The purpose of this short course would be to demonstrate readily available database technologies that allow communication departments to store rubrics, student work and teacher evaluations of student work. Presenters would include: Dr. Steven Lemley, former Provost of Pepperdine University and Professor of Communication, Dr. David N. Lowry, Professor of Communication at Pepperdine, and Dr. Ginger Rosenkrans, Assistant Professor of Communication at Pepperdine University.
Dr. Lemley would explain the necessity of the evaluation process for internal and external accrediting agencies, Dr. Lowry would demonstrate readily available and inexpensive database technologies for housing the work; and Dr. Rosenkrans would provide illustrations of Course Objectives, Rubrics, Student Work and Evaluations.
