Abstract

Adjuncts are a reality of higher education. Prior planning, proper course selection and preparation will ensure a positive experience for students, adjuncts and departments. The professional experience of a working speechwriter or a media law expert can invigorate departmental interactions creating a lively environment for faculty and students. The commitment of the department to new faculty teaching an introductory course can bring quality educators to the discipline while serving important departmental staffing needs.
