A Comparative Analysis of the 2004 and 2005 NCA Convention Programs: How Healthy are We as a Discipline?

Abstract

NCA Primary Program Planners have attempted to institute guidelines promoting maximum participation by members. Our convention continues to grow; the number of audience members continues to shrink at most panels. This analysis redesigns the 2004 Chicago Convention Program using O’Hair’s 2005 participation guidelines as well as what would happen if we developed new Association and Convention organizational strategies. More importantly, the analysis considers how these guidelines and organizational strategies impact our discipline’s health.
