This paper attempts to differentiate the socio-structural processes operating in three Namibian townships faced with HIV/AIDS from individual psychological phenomenon. The analysis uses structural equation modeling placed within the theoretical context of self-efficacy (Bandura, 2003). The findings suggest that the process of social change is facilitated by group processes, which can surmount barriers faced by individuals. These results validate the strategy of aid agencies to focus on community efforts (JHUCCP, 2004).
