Fri, November 18, 3:30 to 4:45pm, Sheraton, Beacon D

Abstract

A mediator’s role in Alternative Dispute Resolution is to facilitate communication between participants and empower them to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. This research explores interactional justice, or the interpersonal interaction between participants and the mediator in caucus, joint session and attempts to understand the mediator's role in contributing to a satisfying and just experience. The research found positive relationships between interactional justice and distributive justice and an ability of these variables to correctly classify those who were willingness to settle.
