Improving the Health of the Discipline: Pedagogy and Whiteness

Abstract

Last year the division sponsored a Thematic Preconference about Issues of Whiteness which had a strong turnout. While the theorizing and discussion were insightful and challenging, some of the organizers and participants want to offer some more practical insight into pedagogy. Therefore, this panel has as its focus classroom exercises, activities, and assignments used to discuss, reflect, challenge, and/or further issues of Whiteness in and out of the classroom. Handouts will be provided.
