Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
Recent political events in the U.S., including but not limited to the recent Presidential election, have illustrated that religion and religious ideas are potent forces in American public life. Media scholars are beginning to investigate the links between religion and the media, particularly new media such as the internet, in spreading religious ideas, consolidating religious networks, and promoting political activity among the more religious sectors of our population. This panel investigates these links in the U.S. and comparative context.
