Space and Place in the Imagined Community: An Analytical Framework

Thu, November 15, 9:30 to 10:45am, Chicago Hilton, Floor: Fifth Floor, Conference Room 5F

Abstract

This study looks at the notion of community as a rhetorical device, meant to connect a particular group of people in a particular way for a particular purpose. Within the context of this study, that particular purpose revolves around the museum as a site for community creation, action, and representation. The overall themes presented here suggest that space and place greatly impact the way that we imagine the rhetorical device of community.
