Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
This panel explores the relationships among collective identity construction, political resistance, and politically consequential faiths (neo-liberalism, ethnic nationalism, religious fundamentalism, socialism) in the former communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Drawing upon a wide range of public addresses, and in light of contemporary political theories related to globalization, identity and resistance, the panel explores various rhetorical strategies for political mobilization in "democracies in transition."
