Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
This panel examines the news media framing of American Indians in the American news media from the perspectives of four American Indian scholars. American Indian ethnicity, social consciousness, media visibility, and contemporary American mass media ethnocentric perceptions of American Indians are presented in this panel for discussion. Results from this panel may be used to deliver more accurate American Indian images in the news media and for journalism and mass communication educators in the classroom.
