Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
This is a panel about the ways that popular culture mediates Christian experience, with special focus on the issue of family values. By focusing on the production of religiously marked figures such as Ted Haggard and Mitt Romney, and on mass mediated texts such as The Di Vinci Code and the Left Behind Series, we hope to isolate some of the forms, ideological investments, and affective ties that cumulatively produce the varieties of Christian experience in popular culture.
