Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
Panel participants take up Ashcraft and Mumbys (2004) feminist communicology of organization in response to a variety of contemporary social issues largely woven around the problematic distinction between public/work and private/home arenas of life. Panelists consider an array of organizational types including a not-for-profit, therapeutic organization as well as family businesses, to organizational policies on bereavement and parental leave. In doing so, each panelist re-works gender by exploring the active co-construction of gender and organization, as well as its implications for theory, practice, and the feminist goal of social change.
