Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion

Abstract

The performance of womanhood varies with context and is a site of ideological struggle. In this panel, scholars explore the struggle over meaning in relation to women’s bodies, women’s relationships and women’s ways of knowing as a starting point for creating social change. Specific sites of investigation include the construction of whiteness and femininity in sororities, the feminization of delinquency in ‘On the Outs’ and the navigation of chilly climates in academe.
