Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
This roundtable discussion highlights the dialectical relationship between performance ethnography and autoethnography. As performance ethnographers take autoethnography to task, it is pertinent to discuss how the two are different/alike not only as methods, but also as modes of ethics. This panel will probe the worldviews of autoethnography and performance ethnography, the problematics/pragmatics of utilizing these methods or orientations, and the possibilities each holds for the future of performance studies and ethnographic scholarship.
